Super Bowl champion gifts legendary Eagles radio announcer Merrill Reese special gift image

Merrill Reese might be one of the most well-known figures in Philly sports despite never stepping on the field to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, and the legendary broadcaster has developed an awesome relationship with one of the team's top stars.

The 82 year old has been the radio voice of the Birds for nearly five decades and he's become a cult hero in the city for his many memorable calls.

However, besides the fact that Reese is great at his job, Philadelphia players love the man and that includes superstar quarterback Jalen Hurts.

While many in the media doubted the Birds when the team took a chance on Hurts in the second round after coming out of Alabama and Oklahoma, Reese has always kept it real about his abilities and was incredibly supportive in the build up to last year's Super Bowl LIX title.

With the 2025 NFL season drawing closer, Hurts was kind enough to gift Reese with a special autographed pair of the Eagles star's Jordan Brand cleats that included a message for his friend.

“To M. Reese, you saw it when no one else could. - Love Always,” Hurts wrote (via JAKIB Sports).

It's a simple gesture, but one that shows how much Hurts has enjoyed his time in Philadelphia so far and will only continue to become more of a legend as he succeeds further.
