Before the first snap of Thursday night's game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, things quickly turned chaotic when Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was ejected for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
The incident unfolded in plain view of an official, making the ejection a straightforward decision.
Video footage suggested Carter's spit came after Prescott appeared to spit in his direction as the teams were forming their opening huddle.

While Carter was ejected, many are likely wondering what the follow-up punishment will be. Nonetheless, former Las Vegas Raiders Amy Trask provided a surprising take on what the league should do with Carter.
"I believe it will be a financial punishment, a fine, but not a suspension, and I feel strongly that it should not be a suspension," Trask said on Friday's edition of "CBS Sports HQ."
"Other players in the past have not been suspended for spitting. I don't think he should be. And I'll revert to being a child and say he can point at Dak and say, 'Look, I thought he started it.' So, a fine, not a suspension."

After the game, Prescott commented on the incident and didn't appear to hold any hard feelings toward Carter.
"I actually said words like, 'Why the hell would I' — excuse me, but probably even more colorful — 'what would I need to spit on you for?' He just spit on me in that moment, it was more of a surprise than anything," Prescott said (h/t Pro Football Talk).
Moreover, the Cowboys' star signal caller did feel sorry for Carter. He noted that the Eagles' star defensive lineman missed out on beginning the 2025 season on the right foot due to an incident just in the heat of the moment.
"I know how excited each and every one of us are right to kick off the season and the season opener, and hell of a player like that doesn't even get a chance in the first play," Prescott said. "Unfortunate circumstances."
