The Saints and Texans may not have a rivalry per se, but the NFL co-owners of the Gulf of Mexico (with the Buccaneers throw in for good measure) do have a bit of a geographical connection.
The preseason concludes for these two squads in the Superdome in downtown New Orleans, as both teams look to usher in a new era.
Derek Carr will be sitting out the final game of the preseason, with Jameis getting the start with Jake Haener rotating in. For the Texans, it's all new, with rookie C.J. Stroud seemingly poised to overtake Davis Mills as the starter.
The two teams did not have joint practices this week as preseason teams often do, so they're going into this game fresh. That won't do anything to dull their competitive spirit, as both teams get ready to officially cut down their rosters in the coming days.
