For the second time in five years, the San Francisco 49ers season ended in crushing fashion, coming up just short of a Super Bowl victory.

After a season in which they finished 12-5, the Niners now turn to the 2024 NFL Draft with the hopes of bolstering a talented, but expensive roster.

The 49ers haven’t made a first-round pick in two years thanks to trades, but this year, they own No. 31, plus nine other selections. With them, they’ll hope to reinforce one of the strongest rosters in the NFL.

The Sporting News is tracking the 49ers' 2024 NFL Draft selections, from round one to seven. Follow along with the picks below.

49ers NFL Draft needs

  • Offensive line: The 49ers are returning their starting offensive line for 2024. Even still, there’s no such thing as too much depth at the position. Offensive line might just be the strongest position group in the 2024 NFL Draft, and the 49ers may look to bolster that unit while talent is available.
  • Wide receiver: The 49ers’ receiver corps is a bit shaky, especially if the team decides to trade Brandon Aiyuk, who is due for a new contract. And while the offense remains loaded with Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle, as GM John Lynch recently said, sometimes drafting is about keeping an eye on the future: as those players age, the 49ers could use a receiver to grow into a bigger role.
  • Cornerback: Like with wide receiver, sometimes drafting is about looking years down the line. The 49ers have several cornerbacks slated to hit free agency in 2025. While San Francisco will try to sign at least one of them to an extension, having depth to replace them could be crucial moving forward. The 49ers haven’t used top picks on cornerbacks in recent years, but that could always change.
