With the underdog and Aaron Rodgers-less Jets (+2.5) taking down the Bills on Monday night, underdogs finished Week 1 boasting a strong 62.5-percent cover rate, reiterating that today's NFL is as parity-filled as ever. On the totals front, UNDER bettors cashed in big time, with 12-of-16 games falling UNDER the closing total.
Now that the Week 2 betting odds are back on the board, the challenge becomes not overreacting to a one-game sample and making your wagers based on last week's results. Denver's defense couldn't get the key stops to secure a "W" in Week 1, but we think they fare better against the Commanders. Washington was fortunate to escape with a four-point home win against a Cardinals team that will likely struggle to win three games. Washington's subpar offensive line play is a glaring concern, surrendering six sacks in Week 1, and if Denver's able to pressure Sam Howell consistently, we like the Broncos' chances of notching the home win and cover,
We're backing both defenses to show out, and although we don't know how Jeff Ulbrich's defense fares against the Bills on Monday night, we know the Jets will have one of the league's best stop units this season. While we don't expect the Cowboys' defense to replicate their Week 1 showing, Dallas' pass rush should get in the backfield, pressuring Aaron Rodgers at a high clip.
