The Jets have one final tune-up game against the Eagles, scheduled for Friday night, before beginning Year 1 under new head coach Aaron Glenn.
Glenn — hired in the offseason from Detroit, where he served as the defensive coordinator — has led the Jets to a 1-1 record this preseason behind new quarterback Justin Fields. With Fields unlikely to play in the preseason finale, that leaves 25-year-old Adrian Martinez to get another extended run under center.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are almost set to defend their Super Bowl title, and they have a new face to help them: Philadelphia recently acquired receiver John Metchie III from the Texans. Metchie will give the Eagles additional insurance behind the likes of DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown.
Jalen Hurts hasn't played in the preseason, and it's unclear if he'll get any reps in this week's game. That leaves the likes of Kyle McCord and Dorian Thompson-Robinson competing for playing time, with Tanner McKee out with a finger injury.
