The 2024 season was one the Dallas Cowboys would rather crumple up and toss in the trash.

After three straight years of hitting the 12-win jackpot, the wheels came off thanks to a rash of injuries that left the roster hobbling to a 7-10 finish. To rub salt in the wound, the rival Eagles went on to hoist the Lombardi Trophy while the Commanders muscled their way to the NFC Championship Game.

The ground game was a full-blown headache, prompting sweeping changes in the backfield. Rico Dowdle, fresh off topping 1,000 rushing yards and ranking as RB23, packed his bags for Carolina. Veteran wideout Brandin Cooks also hit the road, making a return trip to the New Orleans Saints.

Even the quarterback room got a shake-up, with Cooper Rush heading to Baltimore as Lamar Jackson’s understudy and Trey Lance finding a new home with the Chargers. On defense, a few familiar faces left the fold, most notably stalwart pass-rusher DeMarcus Lawrence.

On paper, Dallas still boasts a roster built to make noise, but the team has a knack for tripping over its own shoelaces. The ongoing contract tug-of-war with star linebacker Micah Parsons is the kind of sideshow they can ill afford. Odds are it gets ironed out before the season kicks off, but it’s still an unnecessary storm cloud.

To make matters trickier, the NFC East gauntlet isn’t softening any time soon — with the Eagles and Commanders both fielding rosters that look ready-made for deep playoff runs.

Here is everything you need to know in order to listen to Cowboys games on the radio this season.

Cowboys radio announcers

For Cowboys fans, Brad Sham’s voice has been the soundtrack of Sunday afternoons for decades. Holding down the analyst’s chair is former Dallas quarterback Babe Laufenberg — a familiar face who once took a brief detour off the headset.

Back in 2006, the Cowboys, who keep the final say over their broadcast team, decided not to renew Laufenberg’s contract and swapped him out for ex-safety Charlie Waters.

Still, Laufenberg wasn’t far from the star; he kept breaking down plays as the analyst for the “Blue Star Network,” which handles preseason matchups not picked up by the national TV giants.

Patrolling the sidelines like clockwork is Kristi Scales, a staple in the organization for nearly three decades and the sideline voice for 21 seasons — a tenure that’s as steady as the Texas sun in August.
