The UCLA Bruins moved on from head coach DeShaun Foster over the weekend.
If his replacement is going to come from the NFL, it might come from the Cleveland Browns.
Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees was named by ESPN as one of the top-five candidates to take over for Foster.
"He was born in Los Angeles and has ties to the UCLA program through his father, Bill, a Bruins assistant from 1979 to 1994 under Terry Donahue," ESPN wrote on Sunday. "Tommy Rees has quickly risen up the coaching ranks, earning offensive coordinator titles at Notre Dame, where he played quarterback, as well as Alabama and now the NFL's Cleveland Browns. Just 33, Rees was a strong candidate for North Carolina's head-coaching vacancy this past offseason and likely will be leading his own team in the near future."

There are a couple things that stand out there making Rees a high-quality candidate, beyond just having roots in the program through his father.
The fact that he served as a college offensive coordinator at both Notre Dame and Alabama would serve as big positives as far as being ready to work in the college game.
And Rees impressed UNC enough that if not for Bill Belichick, he may already be running his own program.

The Bruins have struggled for a while, and even with their Los Angeles location, they may not be a destination spot. There's a lot working against them in this era of college football.
But at some point, Rees may leave the coordinator life to take over his own team.
And if he wants to do it now, maybe that team could be UCLA.
