Chicago’s been here before, hailed as offseason champions, only to stumble when the games start to count. But something about 2025 feels different. This time, the buzz around the Windy City carries weight.
The Bears secured the most in-demand head coach on the market in Ben Johnson and shored up their long-standing Achilles’ heel: the offensive line. With Caleb Williams now surrounded by a much-improved supporting cast, there’s a sense this team is finally built to compete.
The NFC North remains a brutal battleground. Even so, after limping to a 5-12 record last season, the team’s revamped roster and coaching staff have injected a fresh wave of hope into the fanbase.
Here is everything you need to know in order to listen to Bears games on the radio this season.

Bears radio announcers
Jeff Joniak leads the broadcast booth for the Chicago Bears with his signature play-by-play calls, joined by longtime color commentator Tom Thayer, while Jason McKie delivers updates and insights from the sideline.
A familiar name to Bears fans, Thayer anchored Chicago’s offensive line throughout the 1980s and early '90s. The former guard appeared in 126 NFL games—starting 120 of them—across stints with both the Bears and Dolphins. A key figure in the legendary 1985 Super Bowl-winning Bears squad, Thayer also cut his teeth in the USFL before his NFL days, suiting up for the Chicago Blitz, Arizona Wranglers, and Arizona Outlaws.
