After stumbling to a 6-11 finish in 2024 and missing the postseason for the first time since 2020, the 49ers are eager to turn the page in 2025.
On paper, the path looks favorable. While past records don’t always tell the whole story, San Francisco draws what appears to be the softest schedule in the league — their opponents combined for just a .415 winning percentage last year.
Only four games on the docket come against playoff squads: two divisional tilts with the Los Angeles Rams in Weeks 5 and 10, a Week 6 clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and a showdown with the Houston Texans in Week 10. It’s no guarantee, of course, but the schedule makers certainly dealt the Niners a hand that could set them up for a bounce-back run.

49ers radio announcers
Greg Papa has been a staple of Bay Area sports for more than three decades, and his résumé just keeps getting longer. With the 49ers now under his belt, he’s the first broadcaster to have called games for five of the region’s major pro teams — a feat that cements his place in Bay Area sports lore.
Beside him in the booth is Tim Ryan, who enters his sixth year as the 49ers’ color analyst. Ryan, a former NFL defensive lineman, has built a reputation as one of the sharpest voices in football.
Fans might also remember him from his decade-long run with FOX Sports, his time hosting on SiriusXM NFL Radio, or his current national role as an analyst for Westwood One.
Before joining the radio crew, he even lent his insight to the 49ers’ preseason TV broadcasts. Together, Papa and Ryan bring a mix of history, knowledge, and energy every time San Francisco takes the field.
