The New York Jets are in the middle of a lost season. Justin Fields hasn't been as good as the Jets have hoped, and Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey have dealt away Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams.
However, their decision to keep Breece Hall is a very notable one. Hall is a free agent at the end of the year, and he could be in line for a massive contract, whether it's with the Jets or elsewhere.
To land such a huge contract, Hall needs to do something in the final eight weeks of the NFL season. As Judy Battista of NFL.com highlighted, if Hall closes out 2025 strong, his contract in the offseason could be a large one.
Why Breece Hall has a lot to play for despite Jets' 2-7 record
"Hall is playing for his next contract," Battista writes, "whether it's from the Jets or someone else."
That new contract is a huge incentive for Hall to finish out the season strong. A dominant showing, despite the Jets' offense around him not being great, would have plenty of teams eager to sign him to a big deal.
His first chance after the Jets decided to keep him was an impressive performance in the Jets' week 10 win over the Cleveland browns. He ran for 83 yards on 21 attempts while adding the go-ahead 42-yard receiving touchdown on a screen pass.
Cleveland has a strong defense, and Hall will face an even tougher opponent in Week 11. The New England Patriots have allowed only one running back to go over 50 yards this season, making Hall's Week 11 matchup a very tough one.

If he can get over 50 yards and also contribute as a receiver, on primetime, the Jets running back could give himself a massive boost to his free agency stock.
This is the last primetime game for Hall and the Jets this season, meaning this is Hall's best chance to showcase his potential to teams around the NFL.
Hall has 138 attempts for 664 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, 22 receptions on 31 targets for 220 yards and one touchdown, along with a wild game-winning, four-yard touchdown pass against the Cincinnati Bengals.
There's already plenty of interest in Hall, but a strong finish to 2025 could have the Jets running back in line to land a huge contract by running back standards this offseason.
