The New York Jets have been one of the more frustrating teams for fantasy managers in 2025. While Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson, and even Justin Fields and Mason Taylor, have had solid weeks, there's been a ton of inconsistency.

Recently, Wilson landed on injured reserve, making his status for the rest of the fantasy season very much in doubt. In most formats, he's missing the rest of the regular season.

But, after some recent comments from Aaron Glenn, fantasy managers now have reason to trade for Wilson. There are some major caveats to trading for Wilson, but this could be a sneaky move to land a strong asset for the fantasy playoffs.

Why fantasy managers should try to trade for Jets' Garrett Wilson

Going on injured reserve this late in the year raises some concern that Wilson could not return. But Glenn recently shut down such a notion, revealing he expects Wilson to return later this season.

The earliest Wilson can return is Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the first week of the fantasy football playoffs for most leagues. Even though Wilson will miss at least through Week 14, teams should still try trading for him.

For any fantasy manager with a playoff spot guaranteed, they should explore trading for Wilson, especially if the team that has him is fighting for a playoff spot.

He likely can be acquired for very little compared to what he'd cost if healthy, and while every league is different, Wilson should be a trade target for any team on the track to make the playoffs or has the extra ammo to make a trade work.

If Wilson returns in Week 15, fantasy managers could have a team's number one receiver, who was playing well before his injury.

In Full PPR leagues, Wilson began his season with 22.5, 9.0, 24.4, 20.2, and 19.1 fantasy points. He was dealing with an injury in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos, missed Weeks 7 and 8, and then was hurt early in Week 10.

Those productive weeks are encouraging enough, but what could make Wilson an even better trade target is the potential that the Jets will make the quarterback switch to Tyrod Taylor.

Justin Fields has been bad this season, struggling to pass the ball consistently all year. If Taylor takes over, all Jets pass catchers would have a huge upgrade in potential.

When compounding the potential QB upgrade, with the cheapness of Wilson in a trade, the strong fantasy matchups to close out the year in the playoffs, and Glenn expecting Wilson to return, there might not be a better buy-low than Wilson.

Teams fighting for a playoff spot shouldn't trade for Wilson, but if managers have a spot locked up or if a manager has ample depth, then trading for Wilson could wind up being a savvy move.
