As it was announced during draft weekend back in April, Nike and the NFL have partnered to create exciting, temporary new jerseys for teams to wear in rivalry games, appropriately dubbed the ‘Rivalry Collection’. This is a program that will run for four years, giving every team a shot at a cool, new redesign both for the players and for the fans, who will be able to order these special edition jerseys shortly before each team’s rivalry game.
For the 2025 NFL season, the AFC East and NFC West divisions are up first, and the New York Jets just released their first teaser video on X (formerly Twitter). Check it out.

Obviously there’s not much of an actual jersey to see in this short clip, but the theme of ‘Gotham City’ and the cool, smokey vibes from the clip have to excite the fanbase. These jerseys are coming just in time for what could be a franchise-altering season for the Jets, the year that they finally end their 14-year playoff drought and potentially even challenge for the division title.
That’s if everything goes well. The defense should be back to its dominant self with Jermaine Johnson healthy and the advent of new head coach Aaron Glenn’s defensive schemes, but what of the offense? Quarterbacked by journeyman Justin Fields, that side of the ball is not expected to do much. In fact, New York’s offense is already expected to be among the league’s worst.
If the Jets are going to make a postseason push in 2025, they are going to need either a historic season from its defense or for Justin Fields to finally have a breakout year and become the franchise quarterback that the Chicago Bears thought they were getting when they selected him with the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. The former is well within the realm of possibility, which is good news for Jets fans. As for the latter, well, it’s nice to dream.
But hey, if Fields does break out in 2025, what better time to pick up a Fields No. 7 jersey than the year when the Jets will have a special edition?
