The New York Jets, amid their disastrous offensive performance in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos, in which Justin Fields had net -10 passing yards, saw one of their stars go down with an injury.
Garrett Wilson, the Jets $130 million wide receiver, was banged up in the Jets' loss in London. After making the trip back to the United States, there was real concern that Wilson could miss some time.
Those fears were confirmed ahead of Week 7, as Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reports that Wilson won't practice on Friday, and in turn, will be ruled out for the Jets matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 7.
Jets to rule out Garrett Wilson for Week 7 vs Panthers
"Jets star wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) won't practice today and won't play Sunday vs. the Panthers, sources tell CBS Sports." Zenitz writes. "There's some hope though, that he could maybe be back as soon as next week's game vs. the Bengals, per sources."

Wilson being ruled out for the Jets' Week 7 matchup against the Panthers was an expected decision. With Wilson not practicing all week and dealing with a knee issue, the Jets' ruling out Wilson isn't surprising.
For an offense lacking in playmakers, especially among the team's receivers, losing Wilson will be a tough blow for the offense. Fields will need to target Mason Taylor, Josh Reynolds, Arian Smith, and Allen Lazard against a red-hot Panthers team.

New York is 0-6, and the offense is a huge reason for the lack of success so far this season. Wilson has been great despite the low passing numbers from Fields, as he has 395 yards and four touchdowns on 36 receptions.
Last season, Wilson had 101 receptions for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns in the best year of his NFL career. This season is his fourth year in the NFL, and while he's struggled to put up the elite numbers like other number one receivers, he's performed well with a rotation of quarterbacks.
Wilson is out for Week 7 against the Panthers, and while he could return in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Week 9 bye for the Jets could justify letting Wilson rest for three weeks while missing only two games to be ready to go coming out of the bye.
