The Denver Broncos addressed the running back position during Day 2 of the draft, as the team added UCF's RJ Harvey in the backend of the second round.
Harvey was a productive college player and is currently slated to be Denver's lead back in 2025. However, NFL Spin Zone's Lou Scataglia predicts the Broncos will acquire Breece Hall from the New York Jets to add to the position group.
"Hall is still quite young and is among the best dual-threat backs in the NFL. He'd fit like a glove with the Denver Broncos, a team that could use some help at RB even after drafting RJ Harvey. A one-two punch featuring these two would be an elite duo and would make life hard for opposing defenses," Scataglia wrote.
Hall has been a solid starter for the Jets over the last two years, but with the new coaching staff looking to utilize a running back by committee approach, the Iowa State product's role in the offense could diminish. Additionally, Hall will be an unrestricted free agent next offseason, and New York could look to move on and roll with 2024 fourth-round pick Braelon Allen as the starter.
If the Jets are willing to trade Hall, Denver would be an intriguing landing spot. The 23-year-old would form a dynamic duo with Harvey and give the Broncos some much-needed excitement in the backfield. Hall would also take a ton of pressure off quarterback Bo Nix and give the young signal-caller another receiving option.
Though his efficiency has dropped every year he's been in the league, Hall has been able to post adequate production behind a subpar New York offensive line, totaling over 1,300 scrimmage yards in each of the last two campaigns.
The Broncos should be doing everything they can to surround Nix with as much talent as possible. Hall isn't a superstar, but the young playmaker would be an electric addition to Sean Payton's offense and a potential future building block for the franchise.
