The New York Jets are 0-6 and are trying to get the first win of the Aaron Glenn era. After a brutal loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 6 in London, in which Justin Fields and the passing offense managed -10 net passing yards, there were a lot of questions about the future of the team.

Glenn made some questionable decisions, deciding to give up on a drive at the end of the first half, which could've turned into a Hail Mary try or a long field goal, either of which would've given the Jets the difference to turn the 13-11 score into a win.

But Glenn, despite this disastrous start, has his job safe and the support of owner Woody Johnson. Following the Week 6 loss, in a piece from Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, Jason Glenn, brother of the Jets head coach and a former Jets player, called on the fans to give time to let Glenn "cook his meal."

"Just give him time to cook his meal," Jason Glenn said. "He's got to shop for these groceries, he's going to cook a great meal - just give him time to cook it."

While the 0-6 start is far from ideal, the Jets are planning to give Glenn some time to establish his vision with the franchise. Johnson is taking a hands-off approach, and Glenn has, at least, the rest of the 2025 season and into the 2026 season.

Signed for the next four years after 2025, the Jets aren't planning to fire Glenn barring a complete collapse and disaster. Like Glenn's brother said, the Jets' ownership is letting the new head coach "cook" for now.

The team does need an overhaul, especially at the quarterback position. After years of Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson, and now Justin Fields all playing below average, New York needs to find a new franchise quarterback.

Whether it's in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, with a player like Indiana's Fernando Mendoza, or with another quarterback, the Jets need to find a replacement for Fields.

Firing Glenn, or giving up on him now after just six games, wouldn't be giving him much time at all to find his franchise leader. If Glenn wasn't a fan of the options in the 2025 NFL Draft, especially with where they selected, then they could be eyeing someone in either of the next two drafts.

It might take some time, but the Detroit Lions under Dan Campbell have taken some time to turn into the NFC juggernauts they are now. Glenn, as a part of that ascension, knows it can't be turned around in a single season.

The 2025 Jets were likely always going to have some problems; the issue has been that those problems have resulted in a winless season so far, and little hope going forward.

But, as Jason Glenn urged, giving Aaron Glenn some time to get all of the pieces he needs to create his ideal roster is something that fans need to be patient with.

Jets ownership is already being patient, and the fans need to follow suit, as Glenn is sticking around for the long haul. He's not going anywhere, so Jets fans might as well let Glenn "cook" to see what kind of roster he can construct with the organization's backing.
