Giants reportedly split on quarterback preference in NFL Draft image

The New York Giants are an interesting team entering the 2025 NFL Draft.

Despite the obvious need for a long-term answer at quarterback, New York's decision at No. 3 overall is shrouded in mystery.

Some of that is due to the franchise keeping things close to the vest throughout the pre-draft process. Some of it is due to a reported split in quarterback preference between general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll.

While Schoen reportedly prefers Colorado star Shedeur Sanders, it seems Daboll has a preference for the fast-rising Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss, according to Pat Leonard of The New York Daily News.

"NFL sources believe Schoen preferred Shedeur Sanders throughout the process but told the News in March that Daboll had warmed to Dart," Leonard wrote.

If the Giants let Sanders slip beyond No. 3, they may not have a chance to get him later. Meanwhile, Dart has been linked to New York as a potential trade-up target at the back of the first round.

The Giants tried — and failed — to trade up to the No. 1 pick in order to land Miami quarterback Cam Ward. The Tennessee Titans are now expected to stay put and take Ward while the Cleveland Browns are somewhat of a mystery at No. 2 overall.

New York could be facing a trio of options at No. 3 that include Sanders, Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter or a potential trade back.

The Giants are likely to exit the draft with a quarterback selection of some kind. But if there's not even a consensus inside the building, there's virtually no way of knowing what the decision will be Thursday night.
