The New York Giants remain one of the more mysterious teams as the 2025 NFL Draft officially arrives.
With the No. 3 overall pick, they can entertain a potential trade back or stay put and select a player. In the best-player-available market, the expectation is that the Giants could land Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter.
If that comes to fruition, the Giants could look to the trade market to see what they can get for edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux.
In what would be a blockbuster trade, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report proposed a deal between the Giants and the Detroit Lions.
"The Lions need more support for Aidan Hutchinson following the release of veteran Za'Darius Smith. No other Detroit edges had more than two sacks in 2024," Gagnon wrote.
The Giants wouldn't necessarily have to trade Thibodeaux if they draft Carter. Having too many pass-rushers is a good problem to have, and there is questionable depth on the edge behind Thibodeaux and Brian Burns.

Gagnon proposed the Giants would receive the Lions second-round pick in 2025 (No. 60 overall) but only "if the competition is fierce." He also proposed a 2026 second-rounder as something that could get it done.
Thibodeaux has yet to reach his ceiling and is still just 24 years old so the Giants don't have to trade him if they don't want to.
Still, this is something to keep an eye on if Carter is the selection Thursday night.
