Brian Daboll makes announcement regarding his starting quarterback image

After the New York Giants fell to the Washington Commanders on Sunday, everyone thought that head coach Brian Daboll would start Ole Miss rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, but that is not the case.

Daboll says that Russell Wilson will start against the Dallas Cowboys this week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

That news will come as a disappointment to Giants fans who thought for sure the time had come to start Dart.

Dart played well this preseason, which gave fans hope that they have finally found their future quarterback, but apparently, Daboll doesn’t want to throw the young QB to the wolves, especially just after their first game against a Cowboys team at home.

Daboll refused to lay the loss at the feet of Wilson and backed his starting QB.

“This game isn’t on Russell Wilson,” Daboll said. “It’s not on Russell Wilson. Let me make that clear. I have confidence in Russ. We have to do a better job all the way around.”

Wilson was 17 for 37 for 168 yards with no touchdowns and zero interceptions. Things were so bad on the sidelines for the Giants that Daboll and star wide receiver Malik Nabors got into an altercation on Sunday, which was captured on film.

“I mean, I said I was going to speak up, when it was time for me to speak up, but just trying to get guys going, trying to get everything going,” Nabers said, via the team’s website. “I felt like we were lacking out there. The energy wasn’t right. So, I took it upon myself to try to boost people up. It’s two competitive people going at it. He wants to win; I want to win. I feel like that’s the reason he got me over here is because of how me and him are just alike. So, it was two people just going at it, we trying to get the same outcome.”

You wonder what tensions may look like if the Giants are blown out again Sunday.
