Adam Schefter links Giants' QB plan to Josh Allen while fans call for Jaxson Dart image

It took only one week for questions to surround the New York Giants. After the Week 1 loss to the Washington Commanders, where quarterback Russell Wilson posed little threat, calls are building to start rookie Jaxson Dart.

On ESPN's "Get Up" on Thursday, NFL insider Adam Schefter suggested the Giants' approach resembles how head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen previously handled the Buffalo Bills' quarterback situation.

"The Giants continue to insist that they have a plan and both Daboll and Schoen were in Buffalo when they had Nathan Peterman start out," Schefter said. "They drafted Josh Allen and the plan was to wait as long as they could before they turn to Josh Allen. That plan and they waited all of one half of Week 1."

Schefter noted that, following New York's opening loss, Daboll did not commit fully to Wilson as the starter moving forward.

"Now we have a situation where for every game they lose, for every time Russell Wilson throws an incomplete pass, these questions are going to come up. The fans want Jaxson."

The NFL insider is convinced the rookie's time is coming. He said another loss or two will cost Wilson the QB1 job.

Dart is now the fan favorite and all eyes are now on Daboll. With his job security tied to this season's results, the head coach will have to weigh fan pressure against his plan, and he may not have long to decide.

In the Week 2 matchup, the Giants face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
