We have ourselves a good old fashioned mystery early on in the Week 13 game between the New York Giants and New England Patriots.
That mystery centers around first-round pick and edge rusher Abdul Carter, who was not on the field for the entire opening series against the Patriots.
"Tomon Fox just came in for Chauncey Golston. No Abdul Carter. The Giants rookie first-round pick a healthy absence for the entire first series," SNY's Connor Hughes reported.
The ESPN broadcast revealed that Carter's absence was a "coach's decision," so it would appear he is being disciplined for something, although that hasn't been confirmed.
Is Abdul Carter playing tonight?
UPDATE: Carter has now entered the game in the second quarter.
UPDATE: The New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy reports that Carter was benched after missing "a team responsibility."
The news was first reported by Richie O'Leary of The Knight Report.

For now, it's safe to assume Carter is being disciplined, but we can't confirm that yet.
END OF UPDATE
Yes, Carter is active and healthy, he just hasn't seen the field yet.
Hopefully we get an update soon.
For now, one has to wonder if Carter's absence is related to some type of discipline, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.
