The New York Giants are off to a 1–3 start after rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart led the team to its first win of the season. The victory was a big one, as the Giants look to find their rhythm moving forward. However, one name to watch in trade talks is edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux.
“There’s an argument to be made that because he’s playing well, the Giants should capitalize on his trade value. It’s a sound argument. New York could probably get at least a second-round pick or a starting-caliber player for Thibs. That’s not nothing,” GMENHQ’s Matt Sidney wrote.
Thibodeaux is currently in the second-to-last year of his contract with the Giants, after the team exercised his fifth-year option for the upcoming season.
“The New York Giants have exercised their fifth-year option on outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux, keeping him under contract with the team through the 2026 season. Giants general manager Joe Schoen announced the news after selecting Abdul Carter with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday,” Bleacher Report’s Paul Kasabian wrote.
If the Giants do decide to move Thibodeaux, two teams to watch are the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers.
“However, they could still be interested in moving pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux for the right price—possibly a starting-caliber receiver who can help replace Nabers. Thibodeaux was the fifth overall pick in the 2022 draft and has flashed intriguing upside. However, New York has its top two pass-rushers in Brian Burns and rookie Abdul Carter also on the roster. Now would be the perfect time to try getting a return for Thibodeaux, who has 2.5 sacks through four games. He is set to play on the fifth-year option in 2026, and the Giants could use another pass-catcher to help support Dart. Potential suitors: Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers,” Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox wrote.

Thibodeaux would be a major upgrade for either team. In San Francisco, he could step in to help fill the void left by Nick Bosa's season-ending injury. In Baltimore, where the Ravens are struggling, he could provide much-needed energy and spark on defense.
Both trade scenarios could be beneficial for Thibodeaux. If he earns a contract extension from either team, he’ll be in a strong position. At the end of the day, any team acquiring him would be getting a valuable asset.
