3 big keys to New York Giants' chances of upsetting the Dallas Cowboys image

The New York Giants pretty much never beat the Dallas Cowboys.

That doesn't mean it's impossible, though. It's just improbable.

The Cowboys have won eight straight in the series, and 15 of the last 16.

So what do the Giants have to do to change the tune?

Malik Nabers injury update

The first step here is to have their best player on the field.

And Giants WR Malik Nabers returned to full practice this week and will be out there.

The Cowboys will probably throw Trevon Diggs on Nabers, and Nabers will have to win that matchup to give the Giants' offense a chance in this game.

Cam Skattebo pass catching

The rookie RB played only eight snaps in Week 1.

But his game is more suited for the Dallas matchup. The Cowboys played 86% zone in Week 1, per ESPN.

A zone defense allows for more throws to the running back, and given that Russell Wilson struggled with efficiency in Week 1, he'd be wise to take some easy ones to Skattebo.

Russell Wilson vs. Jaxson Dart QB depth chart

The reality is that the Giants aren't going to turn to Dart quite yet. The promising rookie needs a smoother runway than a second-half insertion against the Cowboys.

That means Russ just has to be better.

At this point in his career, Wilson needs his offensive line to hold up, and he needs his receivers to get open. But he can still make throws.

If the Giants pull off an upset, it'll be in large part because Wilson has a renaissance game against an NFC East rival.
