Posters on Reddit point to the origin as the social media account Drake Maye Lover, which has nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram and 35,000 followers on X.
It appears that the premise is that Maye doesn't need a nickname. Drake Maye is just Drake Maye.
A nickname can often be used to add a cool factor to an individual.
And the premise here, among Patriots fans, is that there's nothing cooler than being Drake Maye.
Right now, that's very true.
