The New England Patriots signed veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year deal worth $69 million this offseason to give Drake Maye a bonafide WR1.
However, Diggs' start in New England has been up and down, especially after a video of him on a boat went viral.
Nonetheless, Diggs is wasting no time trying to impress his teammates and coaches. On Monday, Patriots WR DeMario Douglas had one word to describe Diggs, per Mark Daniels of MassLive.
"Leader."
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel also spoke highly of Diggs, per Daniels.
“He’s engaged and I like his energy.”
Those are strong comments from both the WR and the head coach, so it is a strong start early on for Diggs in Foxborough.
The veteran spent the 2024 season with the Houston Texans and has also played for the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills, so now he returns to the AFC East.
In his lone season in Houston, he had just 47 catches for 496 yards with three touchdowns, but he played just eight games due to injuries.
Prior to that, he had six straight 1,000-yard plus seasons with the Vikings and Bills, so the Patriots are sure hopeful he can return to that level and give Maye a much-needed weapon on the offense.
But, even with the viral boat video, it is nothing but positive vibes from Diggs early on in the process.
