Dolphins' Tyreek Hill named trade fit for AFC East team after disappointing 2024 season image

The Miami Dolphins have a big question looming regarding superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The former Kansas City Chiefs star was frustrated at the end of the 2024 season as they missed the playoffs and he failed to hit the 1,000-yard mark for the first time since his rookie year.

However, Hill has backtracked on such frustration, even saying he is "trying to prove" himself.

Still, the Dolphins could decide to avoid the headache altogether and just move on from Hill, although it would be a tough pill to swallow for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the offense.

David Carr of NFL.com named a team that could make a run for Hill if the Dolphins open up trade talks, and that team is the New England Patriots.

Here's what Carr said about the potential pairing.

"The star receiver publicly expressed a desire to play elsewhere, an idea the Dolphins nixed and Hill himself quickly backtracked on. However, I'm not convinced Miami will keep him, considering his off-field issues and the fact that the franchise can save nearly $15 million by moving him, per Over The Cap. The Dolphins might be wary of trading within the division, but if not, the Patriots and Drake Maye certainly could use Hill's services in the passing attack. New England has admirably overhauled the offense this offseason, and Hill would continue that trend by giving Josh McDaniels a guy who can elevate his attack to the next level due to his speed and field-stretching ability."

On paper, that sounds good. On the other hand, pairing Hill and Stefon Diggs together could be a media nightmare given everything that has happened off the field with those two star receivers.

As of now, it remains to be seen if the Dolphins move on from Hill, and trading him in the same division would also be a questionable move.

Only time will tell, but it sure is something to think about.
