The Los Angeles Chargers are set to kick off their 2025 season with six wide receivers on the active roster. But beyond Ladd McConkey and an aging Keenan Allen, there's still a lot of uncertainty there.

The Chargers used draft picks on Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith and still have holdovers Quentin Johnston and Derius Davis, but there are legitimate questions regarding whether or not the team has sufficiently supplied the arsenal for Justin Herbert this season.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings requested to be traded during the offseason but general manager John Lynch refused to deal him. The 49ers have what many see as a weak wide receiver room and already traded Deebo Samuel this offseason.

Still, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report feels that Jennings is squarely on the trade block and lists a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick as his perceived value. He sees the Chargers as a team that could make a move for him.

"San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings may not be readily available early in the season. He asked for an extension or a trade during the offseason, but San Francisco isn't actively trying to move him.

Of course, San Francisco could reconsider its stance following a strong offer and/or after its receiving corps is healthier. With Samuel gone and Brandon Aiyuk still recovering from last year's knee injury, Jennings figures to be Brock Purdy's top perimeter target.

Teams looking for a starting-caliber receiver should place calls on Jennings and ramp up their pursuit as the trade deadline approaches. The closer the 28-year-old gets to free agency, the more eager San Francisco could be to get something in return for him.

The Adam Thielen trade should provide a floor for the 49ers' asking price", wrote Knox.

The Chargers are going to evaluate how their current group does with Herbert for several weeks before considering anything like this. Giving up two draft picks would actually be pricey for a player who was once a seventh-round draft pick.

That said, Allen is 33 years old and Johnston has not played well in his first two years. Unless one of the rookies breaks out, a trade before the deadline could definitely be something this team considers. Jennings just turned 28 years old and is a big target at 6-foot-3. He could provide the team with the kind of player it was looking for when it brought Mike Williams back in free agency, only to have him retire this offseason.

NOTE: Jennings and the 49ers reached an agreement late Wednesday night on an incentive based on playing time.
