The Kansas City Chiefs, with the 20-10 loss to the Houston Texans, which dropped them to 6-7 on the season, for most, was the final nail in their playoff coffin.
Yes, they still have a slim chance, but if we are being truthful, this 2025 Chiefs team doesn't have the playoff feel of previous teams.
Granted, they could still rally in the season's final month, but most aren't expecting that at all, frankly, because they haven't shown they are capable of it.
And for NFL.com's Eric Edholm, he has the Chiefs at No. 20 in his latest power rankings, and he offers a brutal yet honest truth about Kansas City right now.
“Kansas City isn't mathematically eliminated from the playoffs -- yet -- but Sunday felt like a funeral at Arrowhead, with the 20-10 loss to Houston officially ending the Chiefs' streak of division titles at nine,” Edholm writes. “We've done various pre-eulogies, maybe even retracting a few along the way, but this feels like it. A shocking end to an incredible run.”

Is the Chiefs' season over?
Technically, no, but realistically, yes.
The Chiefs would need to win out and have a lot of results go their way to even sniff the seventh seed, which right now is occupied by the 8-5 Houston Texans, who just beat the Chiefs.
So, there's no tiebreaker there, no, there's no tiebreaker for the sixth-seeded Buffalo Bills against the fifth-seeded Los Angeles Chargers, both of whom have also beaten Kansas City.
That is a dire situation, folks.
The Chiefs aren't officially eliminated from the postseason, but for most, they might as well be.
It would take a Herculean effort, not to mention some power intervention from the football gods, for the Chiefs to make the playoffs.
As Edholm wrote, this does feel like the end.
