The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of buzz around them with new head coach Liam Coen and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter added to the fold.
Moreover, Trevor Lawrence is back and so is Brian Thomas Jr., the former LSU star who burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2024.
Unfortunately, Thomas left the field early on Wednesday after suffering a concerning injury, per Michael DiRocco of ESPN.
"Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. was down on the ground after landing hand after a pass play that was broken up by Tyson Campbell. He’s heading off the field and going inside."
Shortly after, DiRocco reported that Thomas was back on the sideline with his helmet on, which is a positive sign for everybody in Jacksonville.
Thomas was the No. 23 overall pick in 2024 and caught 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie to lead the team in every category by a wide margin.
The next highest in both catches and yards was tight end Brenton Strange with 40 receptions for 411 yards, so there is no denying Thomas was Lawrence's go-to weapon.
Still, leaving the field and going to get checked out by trainers is always a cause for concern, although the quick return is a sigh of relief to the Jacksonville fanbase.
After practice ended, Coen gave an update, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
"Jaguars coach Liam Coen told reporters that WR Brian Thomas Jr., who landed hard on his shoulder, is fine and could’ve gone back out. “Just precautionary.""
