The Indianapolis Colts may have a quarterback competition taking place between two veterans, but they're still doing their homework on the 2025 NFL Draft class.

All eyes in the Circle City will be on the battle between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones this offseason, but the Colts are reportedly among the teams that have shown a bit of interest in a projected Day 3 selection at the quarterback position.

According to Dan Graziano of ESPN, the Colts were among the teams to have "looked into" Ohio State quarterback Will Howard. Graziano also reported the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers are other teams that have shown interest.

It would be a major surprise if the Colts considered a quarterback prospect at any point in the draft before Day 3. Even with the question marks that surround the battle between Richardson and Jones, there are other holes the Colts need to plug before considering a mid-round quarterback prospect.

Howard, a fifth-year senior, helped lead Ohio State to a National Championship with a solid season in 2024 after transferring from Kansas State where he spent the previous four years as a starter. In 2024, Howard completed 73% of his passes for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions across 16 starts. He also added seven rushing touchdowns.

Over the course of his collegiate career in 50 games (44 starts), Howard completed 63.8% of his passes while throwing 83 touchdown passes and 35 interceptions. He also recorded 26 rushing touchdowns.

Most analysts view Howard as a likely backup or potential spot-starter in the NFL and most have him projected as a Day 3 pick. With that said, the Colts could use an addition at the QB3 spot where they only have 2024 undrafted free agent Jason Bean.

The Colts have seven selections entering the draft so it will be interesting to see if they decide to use one of them at the quarterback position.
