The Indianapolis Colts hosted a wide receiver with a winning pedigree on Tuesday.

According to the NFL's official transactions wire, the Colts welcomed Mecole Hardman for a workout.

No news has emerged of a signing yet, so the Colts may just be kicking the tires on a possible addition down the road.

Hardman spent the summer with the Green Bay Packers but didn't make their final roster.

He's best known for his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was a three-time Super Bowl champion.

Hardman also has a Pro Bowl on his resume as a returner.

If the Colts wanted to bring him aboard, Hardman could provide a variety of skillsets. It seems almost certain they'd want him in the return game in some form.

Offensively, this version of Hardman is likely mostly viable on gadget plays and not as a full-time wide receiver.

The Colts, at 5-1, wouldn't mind adding a player with lots of winning experience, either.

"Just being able to have that experience -- I actually have gone to the end game -- and having to win it, I think that goes a long way, especially for the younger guys to see that," Hardman told The Athletic's Matt Schneidman after he signed with the Packers, delivering a message that could work with a new team, too. "I'm glad I can give that experience to them and let them know what it took and what it's going to take.”

The Colts haven't signed Hardman yet, but maybe that move is still coming.
