There's likely to be a lot of drama surrounding the Indianapolis Colts during the 2025 season. The biggest concern will be at quarterback, where Daniel Jones is currently slated to start. That could change as the season progresses, with Anthony Richardson waiting in the wings to take over.
The team and fans alike will be hoping for a relatively peaceful season.
It seems like that won't happen in 2025. For CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr, the Colts are predicted to be one of the five worst teams in the NFL this season.
He has painted a grim picture.
"This season just feels like it's going to be a disaster for the Colts," Kerr wrote.
What is the main reason for the writer's skepticism? Daniel Jones and the team's decision to start him at QB.
"Anyone who has watched Daniel Jones with the Giants over the past six years knows he's not the answer at quarterback," Kerr said. "The Colts gave up on Anthony Richardson way too easily after two years, and now the franchise is at the point of no return with the former No. 4 overall pick."
The team's offense does have some bright spots. However, the offseason losses of offensive linemen Ryan Kelly and Will Fries present some challenges. On top of that, Kerr expressed a lack of confidence in Jones.
He described that using some strong words:
"Trusting Jones in a 17-game season is going to be significantly difficult, and it's hard for Jones to magically improve less than 12 months after getting cut by the Giants," Kerr said.
Kerr closed his Colts prediction with a hard-hitting take: this could be Shane Steichen's final season as the team's head coach.
