As 53-man rosters begin to set in stone, so do practice squads.

The Indianapolis Colts brought back a slew of players who were with them in training camp, including preseason standout running back Ulysses Bentley IV and cornerback Chris Lammons.

In addition, Indy also made an outside addition to their practice squad by signing wide receiver Tyler Scott, according to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler.

Scott, a former fourth-round pick of the Bears in 2023, couldn’t make it work in Chicago. He made four starts as a rookie, recording 17 receptions for 168 yards, but his progress halted quickly in 2024, receiving just one target all year.

By coming to Indianapolis, Scott is reunited with his former receiving partner in college, Alec Pierce.

Both Scott and Pierce were a part of the most successful football season in Cincinnati history, combining for 1,783 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in their historic 2021 campaign in which the Bearcats earned a spot in the College Football Playoff, a four-team tournament at the time.

Scott also offers special teams value as a gunner, part of the reason why Indianapolis brought him in. He’s likely to be one of the first practice squad elevations of the season as a result. With the Colts being really happy with the current state of their wide receiver group, Scott isn’t likely to receive many opportunities on offense.

But, if he’s able to take advantage of the chances he gets as a gunner, Scott is just one play away from rejoining his college teammate on the line of scrimmage.
