The Houston Texans are entering Year 3 with CJ Stroud as the starting quarterback, and there are some big expectations this time.
However, Stefon Diggs is gone, although the Texans still have plenty of offensive weapons for the former Ohio State star to throw to.
Stroud was notably not throwing at recent OTAs with what was described as a "relatively minor" injury. Texans offensive coordinator Nick Caley said there were "no concerns whatsoever" with Stroud's absence.
On Tuesday, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryan doubled down on those comments, per NFL.com's Jeremy Bergman.
"There's no concerns with C.J. It's just general soreness. We're taking extra precaution with him, but he'll be good to go. No concerns on my end there," Ryans said.
It's a sigh of relief for Texans fans, and the team deciding to take precautions with Stroud is a smart move given it is barely June.
In 2024, Stroud threw for 3,727 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, all of which were a step back from his impressive rookie season.
The Texans made the playoffs this past season and defeated the Los Angeles Chargers with ease before losing to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the following round.
All in all, any long-term concerns about Stroud's injury should be silenced with Ryans insisting it is "general soreness," although it will still be a situation to monitor going forward.
