C.J. Stroud playing this week chances get bad news for Texans image

TL;DR

  • C.J. Stroud's Week 11 playing status is uncertain due to a concussion, missing Week 10.
  • Backup QB Davis Mills led the Texans to a comeback win in Week 10 without Stroud.
  • Stroud's chances of playing Week 11 took a hit; he missed Wednesday practice and remains in protocol.
  • Houston faces the Titans in Week 11, possibly again with Mills if Stroud is not cleared.

The Houston Texans may have to manage another week without C.J. Stroud.

His playing status for Week 11 remains uncertain following a Week 9 concussion, as he was absent for Week 10.

Despite the apparent disadvantage of Stroud's absence on Sunday against the Jaguars, Houston managed a remarkable comeback in the second half, spearheaded by backup QB Davis Mills, to bring the Texans' record to 4-5.

Houston heads to Tennessee to face the Titans on Sunday. It's possible they'll have to rely on Mills once more.

Will C.J. Stroud be participating in this week's game?

Stroud's chances of playing in Week 11 took a hit on Wednesday, and he now seems quite uncertain.

News broke Wednesday afternoon that Stroud was absent from practice, still sidelined with his concussion. This indicates he has not yet met the requirements for concussion protocol clearance.

ESPN's Adam Schefter chimed in:

Stroud's sole opportunity to return this week hinges on practicing Thursday. If he remains in protocol until Friday, integrating the complete game plan for him and the offense for Week 11 would prove challenging.

Houston has a tough matchup with the Buffalo Bills in Week 12 on Thursday Night Football. If the Texans can get through the Titans with Mills, maybe Stroud will be healed up to take on Josh Allen on the short week.
