The Green Bay Packers are expected to be a contender in the NFC North, and they finally selected a wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft.
The Packers selected Texas star Matthew Golden, giving Jordan Love another option in the receiving game.
But, with training camp approaching, there are still some names that need homes, and some that could be moved via a trade.
ESPN's Matt Bowen ranked some best fits in free agency and via trade, and one of them was the Packers acquiring Cincinnati Bengals' disgruntled defensive end Trey Hendrickson.
After being granted permission to seek a trade in March, Hendrickson is refusing to play with the Bengals until he receives a new contract. If no deal comes together, Green Bay would be the perfect landing spot for him, as he'd pair well with Rashan Gary in Jeff Hafley's defensive system. Lukas Van Ness, a 2023 first-rounder, is still developing at this stage, so there is a path for Green Bay to add more to its defensive line.
Hendrickson is a relentless defender off the edge, with a deep toolbox of counters and a knack for making plays late in the down. His 17.5 sacks and 65 pressures were league highs in 2024. This would be a big-time get for the Packers' defense, which tied for the eighth-most sacks last season (45).
Hendrickson, who has not agreed to a new deal, mentioned previously that there was "no communication" between the two sides. As such, there is a scenario where he sits out Week 1 and waits for a new deal.
So, in turn, it would make sense for the Bengals to trade him, and the Packers adding him would be a massive addition to the defense.
