The Green Bay Packers won the Micah Parsons sweepstakes last week when they swung a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. Parsons wanted out of Dallas after team owner Jerry Jones attempted to strike a deal without his agent. This was the root of the problem, and over time it escalated, leading Parsons to make the difficult decision to request a trade from the team that drafted him.
“Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally,” Parsons posted.
While the move for Parsons was great for the Packers, the record-breaking extension could have created issues for the Detroit Lions. Edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson is looking for an extension, and Parsons’ new market value just increased.
“The Packers might have gotten a double whammy out of this. Micah Parsons’ new deal — at $47M per year — could directly impact the division rival Lions, who are actively negotiating with Aidan Hutchinson. Parsons and Green Bay just blew the doors off the market. We’ll see if it ends up affecting it or not,” NFL insider Ari Meirov posted.
The two teams will face off in the season opener on Sunday, and Lions head coach Dan Campbell has already made it clear they are preparing for Parsons.
“We'll have a plan,” Campbell said, referencing Parsons.

Packers QB Jordan Love thinks Parsons will make his presence felt early on the first defensive drive.
“They gotta do defense. Micah last. Crowd's gonna go crazy. I already see it. Defense go out there first. Get a three and out. Micah get a sack on third down. I already see it,” Love told the media.
The entire organization is happy that Parsons is on their team, and it seems the chemistry is already developing. It is still unclear how many snaps Parsons will get, but it looks like his QB is already manifesting a sack. If that comes to fruition, Lambeau Field will go nuts.
