The New York Giants lost one of their most talented players in Week 4 when wide receiver Malik Nabers went down. The former first-round pick exited early in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, and reports later confirmed he tore his ACL.

This is a devastating loss for any team, but for the Giants it could be catastrophic. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart appears to be taking the reins from Russell Wilson, and he needs all the playmakers around him he can get. New York picked up its first win against the Chargers, but the team still sits in last place in the NFC East and needs all the help it can get.

One option would be to look for a replacement before the November 4 trade deadline. CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr outlined potential targets, including Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs.

“The Packers have so many wide receivers on their roster and will get another playmaker back whenever Christian Watson returns. Matthew Golden is coming into his own and Dontayvion Wicks is a reliable target for Jordan Love. Of course, Doubs is also coming off a three-touchdown game and is averaging a career-high 13.8 yards per catch,” Kerr wrote.

Doubs has been a popular trade candidate going back to the offseason, largely because of Green Bay’s crowded receiver room. The other factor is his contract status — this is the final year of his rookie deal, and with the Packers’ depth, he’s unlikely to return next season.

“He could have a strong future as a No. 2 wideout in New York. He would be another player to grow with Dart while getting WR1 targets,” Kerr added.

Doubs’ stock is certainly rising after his career-best performance against the Cowboys in Week 4’s Sunday Night Football matchup. His three touchdowns were instrumental, even though the game ended in a 40-40 tie.

Right now, Dart is left with options like Darius Slayton, Theo Johnson and Wan’Dale Robinson. Together, they have just two touchdowns this season. Nabers scored the other two, making his absence even more glaring for an offense already struggling for consistency.
