Packers cut ties with rookie WR, fans think Jayden Reed injury news is next image

The Green Bay Packers have some wide receiver movement happening, and it has fans hoping that some Jayden Reed injury news is coming next.

On Monday, the Packers released rookie wide receiver Will Sheppard.

Sheppard spent the entire season on the practice squad as a 6-foot-3, 196-pound rookie WR. He had signed with Green Bay originally in July.

He was actually on the active roster for the Thanksgiving Day game, his first time elevated from the practice squad, but has now been cut.

Sheppard went to Vanderbilt and then Colorado. In his lone season with Deion Sanders, he had 48 catches for 621 yards and six touchdowns before going undrafted.

Reed has been out after having surgery on his foot and collarbone.

Head coach Matt LaFleur did tell reporters Monday that Reed hasn't yet been cleared to play. He hasn't suited up since getting hurt in Week 2.

Reed is on Injured Reserve but could still be designated to return.

Sadly for Packers fans, though, it doesn't seem like these moves are actually connected. One viral post among Green Bay fans on X was literally just the number 11, which is Reed's number. But he waiting game for Reed will continue at least a little bit longer.

In the meantime, the likes of Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson and the newly prominent Dontayvion Wicks will continue to lead the WR corps for Jordan Love.
