"You're my New Rivalry": Green Bay Packers Micah Parsons sends message to Penei Sewell After win image

Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons made his team debut after being traded from the Dallas Cowboys just one week before the start of the 2025 NFL season. Parsons recorded a sack against the Detroit Lions in a 27-13 win for Green Bay.

The Packers defense looked different with Parsons at the helm. The team recorded four sacks in the game against Detroit. Parsons has a chance to be a difference maker on this defense. He didn't even play during the preseason, so the Packers are just trying to get him up to speed.

Green Bay Packers Micah Parsons Finds New Divisional Rival After Trade

During the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Cowboys, he was always going up against Lane Johnson on the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, he faced Penei Sewell on Detroit for a majority of the game on Sunday afternoon. After the game was over, he spoke to Matt Schneidman of the Athletic about-facing Sewell twice a year and said,

"I'm not gonna be able to get rid of him. He's a hell of a player. I told him, I said, 'You're my new rivalry now. I don't got Lane no more. It's gonna be you. I'mma see you twice a year, so you might as well buckle up.'"

Well, Parsons is going to see Sewell one more time this season in the NFL and maybe two more if Detroit and Green Bay meet each other in the playoffs. This will not be the only team that Parsons will cause problems against this season. The former Cowboys player will face the Washington Commanders on Thursday night in Green Bay. Parsons saw Jayden Daniels play for Washington last season and he will be a challenge for this Packers defense to slow down.
