TL;DR

  • Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs players Jameson Williams, David Montgomery, and Isiah Pacheco will play on Thanksgiving.
  • David Montgomery faces a tough matchup against the Packers and should be benched for Week 13.
  • Isiah Pacheco returns from injury against the Cowboys but workload is uncertain; he should also be benched.
  • Jameson Williams is a boom-or-bust player facing a tough Packers defense and should be benched.

Thanksgiving Day will feature three games, with the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs among the participating teams. This means wide receiver Jameson Williams, along with running backs David Montgomery and Isiah Pacheco, will be playing.

The Lions draw a Week 13 matchup against the Green Bay Packers while the Chiefs face off against the Dallas Cowboys.

Pacheco, who is in the midst of a down season, is returning from injury this week after a three-game absence.

Despite remaining healthy throughout the season, Montgomery and Williams have also delivered underwhelming performances.

Here's some start or sit advice for all three players in Week 13.

David Montgomery's start or sit recommendations

Montgomery's role has significantly diminished behind Jahmyr Gibbs in recent seasons. This year, Montgomery has rarely exceeded 15 carries in a game, with a maximum of 18 in any single outing.

Due to this and his infrequent involvement in the passing game, Montgomery ranks as RB24 overall, rendering him an unreliable flex choice week-to-week, unlike the near-certain starter he's been in recent years.

Given this information, Montgomery's performance hinges on matchups, and he faces a tough one against the Packers, who are tied for the fifth-fewest fantasy points allowed allowed per game to running backs this season.

If Montgomery is your starter, a touchdown is what you're counting on. Considering this and the tough matchup, Montgomery should be benched for Week 13.

Verdict: Sit

Isiah Pacheco: start or sit recommendation

Pacheco has shared the workload with Kareem Hunt all season, and his return is unlikely to alter this arrangement.

Due to that division and some ineffective blocking, Pacheco's output has been underwhelming, to put it mildly, considering his ranks as RB84 overall in fantasy points per game.

Pacheco's workload in his initial game back is another worry for him this week, as head coach Andy Reid did not confirm the amount of work Pacheco would receive throughout the week.

"We'll get him in there," Reid said. "How much? I can't tell you that right now. We'll see how it goes."

Pacheco faces a favorable matchup against a Cowboys defense that allows the 10th-most fantasy points per game to his position, presenting a clear path for him to achieve success.

Considering this season's performances and the doubts surrounding his usage, Pacheco isn't a recommended starting choice for Week 13.

Verdict: Sit

Advice on whether to start or bench Jameson Williams

We've seen the duality of Williams over the last five weeks.

Williams had a three-game hot streak in which he compiled at least 66 receiving yards and one touchdown in each contest in that span, but those showings were sandwiched in between two games where he posted a bagel.

The Lions wideout is the true definition of a boom-or-bust player and that isn't going to change anytime soon. He enters Week 13 ranked as WR33 overall, a ranking that makes him a weekly flex consideration but not a lineup lock.

The best bet in making start or sit decisions with Williams is to go by his matchup. In Week 13, he squares off against a Packers team that is ceding the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to wideouts.

In his last meeting with the Packers, Williams tallied just four catches for 23 yards. In four games versus the Packers in his career, Williams has just 11 catches for 154 scoreless yards.

Ride the Williams roller coaster if you please, but there's more than enough evidence to suggest he should be on the bench this week.

Verdict: Sit
