Trade rumors are starting to heat up for Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons.
It seems that many are reporting that the Cowboys may be willing to trade Parsons, but for a HUGE price.
ESPN NFL analyst Field Yates posted on X what exactly it would take for the Cowboys to deal Parsons away to another team.
What's in play for a team trying to trade for Micah Parsons:
- A trade package that satisfies Dallas. If it's a contending team, does that mean two first round picks? The Cowboys will ask for a ton
- A contract that satisfies Parson. This should be more straightforward: the highest-paid non-QB ever. $42M per-year at least
- In order to acquire Parsons, a team is going to need to have $21.324M available in cap space. That's his current cap number, and an extension would be worked out after the trade is executed
The only question is now, what teams are willing to make this trade, and would Parsons be open to going to that team?
So far, Parsons' agent hasn’t been given the go-ahead to negotiate with the Cowboys or another team right now, but it’s a shock to see that the Cowboys are now open to such a blockbuster trade.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is a lot of things, but dumb is not one of them. This deal is going to be one of the biggest in NFL history, maybe even bigger than the Hershel Walker trade. Jones not only wants to make sure he gets a lot for Parsons, but he also wants to make sure he gets credit for making a good deal.
One of the things that Jones seems to resent throughout the years is that he wasn’t given enough credit in the Walker trade, and how most of the praise went to former head coach Jimmy Johnson.
He’s going to make sure this time, no one gets to take credit for this kind of deal.
