For the first time, we get to hear about how the Micah Parsons trade went down through the point of view of Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta.

There was a lot said about Mulugheta by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who said that when he offered Micah Parsons the extension, it was Mulugheta who threw it back in his face and said no.

Mulugheta told Stephen A. Smith on Tuesday morning on “First Take” that when Parsons returned from vacation, Jones called him into his office to discuss leadership, which later turned into a discussion about a new contract.

“At no point did Micah believe he was negotiating a contract,” said Mulugheta. Mulugheta believed this was a miscommunication between the two parties, and Jones thought he and Parsons had struck a deal, even though his agent wasn’t involved in the discussion.

“I’m not sure how this turned the way it did,” he said but Jerry was not open to negotiating any further.”

Although many have said Jones and Parsons took things too far and made it personal, Mulugheta doesn’t see it that way; all of this, he said, was just part of the negotiations.

“Honesty, I don’t take it personally. This is another negotiation I was always prepared and opened with the Jones family to negotiate.”

Mulugheta is also the agent for new Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens, so this will not be the last time he and Jones will face off. He also thinks the NFLPA may look into this.

“My expectation, I would assume they’d want to look into this,” he said.

Mulugheta concluded the conversation by saying Parsons wanted to remain with the Cowboys, but they couldn’t come to terms on the number of years. The Cowboys wanted to lock him in with a five-year deal at a certain price, but Parsons wanted a four-year deal with a fifth-year option

“Micah wanted to be a Cowboy, and we did everything we could,” he said. There is so much that goes into an NFL contract.”

Parsons is expected to start against the Detroit Lions despite his nagging back injury.
