The Dallas Cowboys have already lost two quarterbacks this offseason.
Trey Lance signed with the Los Angeles Chargers and Cooper Rush landed with the Baltimore Ravens. The Cowboys proved how important the backup quarterback position is last year with Dak Prescott missing significant time. Right now, Joe Milton III is behind Prescott after being acquired from the New England Patriots but could it make sense to bring in another veteran option?
CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin suggested former Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowler Carson Wentz as a potential option.
"Carson Wentz to the Cowboys," Benjamin said. "Dallas dealt a pick to the New England Patriots for Joe Milton III, an intriguing young arm to develop behind Dak Prescott. You've gotta think they'd like a bit more experience in the room, considering Prescott's missed extensive time in three of his last five seasons. And Wentz, their old NFC East rival, has drawn solid reviews as a big-armed backup for a couple of contenders in recent years."

He spent the 2024 season as Patrick Mahomes' backup as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. He's clearly been a solid backup quarterback over the last few years with the Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams. It wouldn't hurt to bring a guy like him to town now.
