Cowboys' Jaydon Blue gets final injury update before season opener vs. Eagles on Thursday night image

Jaydon Blue won't have to wait to make his NFL debut.

After an injury-filled preseason, the rookie running back for the Dallas Cowboys is apparently over his ailments and good to go.

The Cowboys released their initial injury report for the Thursday night season opener against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, and Blue wasn't even listed. That means he's fully in the clear.

Blue missed the first two preseason games with a heel/ankle injury before getting out there for the third and final August contest.

He ran nine times for 25 yards with a 1-yard touchdown before an injury to the same leg took him out of the game.

Blue was back on the practice field a couple days later, though, and it was reported as a low-ankle sprain, so he seems all good to continue his pursuit of carries behind Javonte Williams.

The fifth-round rookie out of Texas runs a 40-yard dash in the 4.3-second range. He's a solid pass catcher and explosive when he gets to the second level.

He's a different threat than Williams or Miles Sanders, the two veterans that the Cowboys signed this offseason.

Blue is viewed by many as a fantasy football sleeper, too, although playing him in Week 1 might be inadvisable.

Dallas Cowboys injury report

There were four players on the Cowboys' Monday injury report:

  • Perrion Winfrey, DT - Back (DNP)
  • Trevon Diggs, CB - Knee (Full)
  • Tyler Guyton, T - Knee (Full)
  • Brevyn Spann-Ford, TE - Ankle (Full)

Diggs had seemed like a total question mark for Week 1, so his early full participation bodes well for Dallas.
