While the focus recently has been on the Micah Parsons trade for the Dallas Cowboys, the team wants to focus its attention on the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys and head coach Brian Schottenheimer received some good news on the injury front.
Reports out of Cowboys camp is that cornerback Trevon Diggs and left tackle Tyler Guyton are expected to return sometime later this month.
“Yeah, I think trending in the right way,” head coach Brian Schottenheimer said via the Dallas News. “We got our meeting with the training staff after the practice today, but both guys are working their butts off to try and get back and be ready to go.”
Diggs is still dealing with a knee injury from last season that some thought might keep him out of the 2025 season, but he is almost 100 percent.
Guyton got hurt during fall camp when he suffered a fractured bone and a sprained ligament in his knee. Team officials targeted early September for his return.
Diggs said he should be ready to go by week 4.
“Big raves about them and their competitive spirit and just the work that it takes,” Schottenheimer said. “These things don’t happen overnight. Trevon is a guy, really truly, when he came back, he started working closely with (Director of Rehabilitation) Britt (Brown) and the trainers. He just took huge leaps and strides. And so proud of him (and) the way he’s attacked this injury and how bad he wants to get out there and play.”
The Cowboys need help, especially on the defensive side of the ball, with the trade of Micah Parsons, who was the leader of that Dallas defense. Now, that leadership role falls on Diggs..
If he is unable to play, expect Kaiir Elam and DaRon Bland, who just got a huge contract extension, to start at cornerback.
