The Cleveland Browns have yet to turn to rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders as their starter this season, but one NFL insider believes it is inevitable.

CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones was asked to weigh in on the chances the Browns will give Sanders a look at some point this season, and the NFL insider emphatically stated there is a 100% certainty that will happen.

When that happens remains to be seen, though, as Jones wouldn't predict when exactly the Browns will hand the ball off to the Colorado product.

"I think the chances are extremely high," Jones said of Sanders getting a start in 2025. "I'm gonna go 100% that that he will start a game this season, and I say that because look at the schedule and, more importantly, look at the record."

"They're 2-7, they're not going to the playoffs... You gotta know what you have in Shedeur," Jones added.

Dillon Gabriel has been the Browns' starter since Week 5, but the early returns have not been good. Despite that, head coach Kevin Stefanski said he's sticking with the rookie for now.

“We’re going to stick with Dillon (Gabriel),” Stefanski told reporters, according to ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi.

Stefanski wouldn't, however, put a timeline for when he might move on to Sanders.

"I don't think it's fair to speculate. We're committed to getting better as an offense. Dillon (Gabriel) is certainly committing to improving every which way he can," Stefanski said.

Cleveland is 1-4 in Gabriel's starts and he's completing just 58.6% of his passes for 869 yards and seven touchdowns to two picks.

Barring a turnaround in the weeks to come, it's clear that Gabriel doesn't look like the long-term answer for the Browns.

As a result, Cleveland must get a look at Sanders to see if he can be that guy before they wade into the waters of drafting a quarterback in 2026, which could happen with their first-round pick.

If Sanders proves he can be the guy, it'll be huge, as the Browns won't have to spend an early pick on a signal-caller and can instead address a different position.
