The Cleveland Browns made waves back in April when they drafted two quarterbacks on Day Two and Day Three. The Browns took Dillon Gabriel out of Oregon in the third round, and then traded up in the fifth round to take Shedeur Sanders. However, Sanders was almost a Baltimore Raven.
Per Adam Schefter on Sunday NFL Countdown, the Ravens were planning to take Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, but the Colorado product made sure word got to Baltimore that he did not want them to draft him and that he wanted to go somewhere where he could compete to be a starter.
"Ravens planned to take Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round, but before Baltimore could turn in the card, the former Colorado star let it be known that he didn’t want to be on a roster with Lamar Jackson, where he would be a backup," Schefter followed up in a post on X.
The Browns ended up taking Sanders, and he is now the No. 3 quarterback behind Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel.
The Browns and Ravens face off in Baltimore in Week 2, as both teams will be looking to avoid an 0-2 start.
