The Cleveland Browns and quarterbacks simply don't go well together.
They've started 40 quarterbacks since returning to town in 1999, from Tim Couch to Bailey Zappe. That's bad enough.
But they've also got the longest active streak of QB futility in the NFL by a different measure: Pro Bowls.
The Browns haven't had a Pro Bowl quarterback since 2007, which is the longest stretch active in the league right now, per ESPN Research.

The guy who is currently holding the Browns' last Pro Bowl QB spot: Derek Anderson.
At that time, Anderson was a ridiculous revelation.
The Ravens had drafted him in the sixth round in 2005, but he didn't stick there and was in Cleveland in time to go 0-3 as a starter in 2006.
But in 2007, Anderson went 10-5 and threw 29 touchdowns. The 6-foot-6 passer had, by far, the best season of his NFL career.

It would take something entirely unexpected like that to snap the Browns' drought this season.
The 40-year old Joe Flacco is slated to start Week 1. He's actually never even made a Pro Bowl.
Flacco might not make it the whole season, though. It's very possible the Browns give starts to rookies Dillon Gabriel and/or Shedeur Sanders.
If it's a mish-mosh of appearances, there definitely wouldn't be a Pro Bowl trip. And even if one guy starts almost all the games for Cleveland, it doesn't appear that likely on a bad team.
Browns fans will probably have to wait until next year, a pretty standard refrain.
