The Cincinnati Bengals remain at a standoff with star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. However, one former teammate of his is urging the Bengals to give the 30-year-old the contract extension he deserves.
While appearing on "Up & Adams," Cam Jordan was asked about Hendrickson's hold-in with Cincinnati, and the 36-year-old, who played four years with the New Orleans Saints, said that the Bengals need to do everything possible to keep his former teammate.
"He needs to be paid," Jordan told Kay Adams. "Has he got paid yet? Give them all the money. Run the bag. You've officially paid T. J. Watt. I think Cam Hayward said now he needs more money. And that being said, when you pay T. J. Watt and Myles Garrett this past offseason, Trey Hendrickson should have been the second to be paid or the first to be paid, and yet he's still third. And there's Micah Parsons.
"Pay them what they're worth, all of it. Just empty the bag, Stop. Don't do this. Don't let a guy like Trey Hendrickson walk. They've never had a pass pressure like Trey Hendrickson over Cincinnati."

Moreover, Jordan understands that the Bengals invested a first-round pick on Shemar Stewart. Still, he notes that Cincinnati already knows that they have in Hendrickson as the veteran is coming off back-to-back 17.5 sack seasons.

"He just had two back-to-back 17.5 sack seasons, 35 over the past two years," Jordan added. "I get it, you picked up a first-rounder, but you have something proven. When you have something proven, you add to that. That's why you go get the first-rounder."
The ball is in the Bengals' court. If the Cincinnati defense struggles again in its second preseason game against the Washington Commanders on Monday, will the front office soften its stance and work out a contract extension with Hendrickson to ensure he's on the field for Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns?
